The Workshop, Inman Park, 326 N. Highland Ave, 2014 - 2017

The Workshop was a private studio oasis located at Villa de Grip.
Several artists called The Workshop home, and within its walls they built a sense of sanctuary, resources to build livelihoods, and a supportive family. The Workshop served as a space for exploration, community, and education for all ages and regularly held publicly accessible events and classes on a range of topics. The combination of tools, space, bamboo, skylights, gardens, dogs, treehouses, honey bees, indoor baby birds, tears, laughter, and love made this a magical space to create.

Rangers: Julia Hill, Terp Vairin, Katie Culp, Caroline Smith, and many more.

Ponce de Leon Train Bridge

Truant Student Secret Escape Route, Bridge Spanning Ponce de Leon, Post-Railroad/Pre-BeltLine Era

The train bridge was part of a trail leading from Grady High to Inman Park and Candler Park, used by some students to skip school. The trail began in what is now Piedmont Bark, connected to the tracks, crossed this bridge, and continued southward through abandoned industrial buildings covered in kudzu, encampments, and near misses with police at  former City Hall.

This bridge was the most harrowing part of the journey, being merely tar paper over trestles. One misstep could result in falling through and dangling, possibly getting caught, or falling into traffic and definitely getting caught.

Thunderbox,Practice Space, Old Fourth Ward,   728 Ralph McGill Blvd,  2006 - 2015

Opened to absorb demand for practice after Black Box and Metro closed their doors, Thunderbox was Atlanta's premiere practice space, serving over 200 Atlanta bands and performers.

Kylee Kimbrough writes:  There were a lot of memories there. I was a late bloomer to playing music and can't imagine how else I would have been able to access being able to practice drums or anything like I could with my room at Thunderbox. My mind works best at night. I needed somewhere I could go and be loud at 2am and that place made that possible for me.
